I am not going to polish them further. They are what they are.
I don't think this is a good poem, but I think it is an important one. I wrote it sometime in my mid-twenties, at which time of life I was afflicted with an overwhelming feeling of despair. One day, when I was feeling particularly gloomy, I sat to write it, and in the course of doing so seemed to move myself to making a decision. It may well be that that purely internal moment shaped the future course of my life.
